What happens during a pediatric dental checkup?
The nature of your child’s checkup will depend on their age, personality, and maturity at the time of their visit. For babies, for instance, we will simply inspect any existing teeth, gum tissue, and oral structures to identify any developmental concerns.
Once children are old enough to sit still for a full checkup, our team may recommend the capture of digital X-rays or repair for any tooth defects or cavities. We may also recommend Phase 1 orthodontic treatment if it could benefit your child.

What to expect from your child’s dental cleaning
During your child’s dental cleaning, our talented team will gently remove plaque from your child’s teeth. Plaque is a sticky, colorless substance that contains harmful bacteria and can cause tooth decay if left to sit on your teeth.
After a thorough cleaning, we will then polish your child’s tooth enamel to remove minor staining, and apply a fluoride treatment as needed to improve tooth strength. If your child is old enough, we will walk them through some simple instructions to improve their oral health.
